About CyteWorks

Kansas City IT since 2001.

We're a small team of three people who have been providing IT support to Kansas City businesses for 25 years. No offshore helpdesk. No account managers between you and the work. Robb, Duane, or Sean — every time.

Our Story

Built different from day one.

Robb Washeck and Duane Blankenship met at an IT consulting company, and in 2001 they started CyteWorks. At the time it was a project development shop — everything from brochure websites to large database reporting projects with up to 20 people working on them.

Over time they transitioned to what CyteWorks is today: direct, no-nonsense IT support and managed services for Kansas City businesses. Sean Brewer joined and became the technical force driving decisions on what technologies to deploy and what to leave behind. Twenty-five years later, it's still three people who answer the phone.

Along the way we built out our own hosting infrastructure inside an underground limestone datacenter in Kansas City — our own firewalls, switches, and servers in one of the region's few underground facilities — which now supports hosted solutions for clients who want their data close to home, in a facility built to survive Kansas City's weather and whatever else comes along.

We don't have a sales team. We don't run ads. Most of our clients come from referrals, which tells us more about how we're doing than any metric we could report.

How We Operate

The things we don’t compromise on.

01

Direct access, always.

You never reach an intake team, a shared helpdesk, or an offshore call center. Robb, Duane, or Sean — every time you call or email. We believe directly in the person who actually knows your setup.

02

Honest recommendations.

We tell you what you need, not what generates the most revenue for us. If your current setup is fine, we'll say so. If something is a real risk, we'll explain why in plain language — no fear-based upsells.

03

No retainer required.

We don't charge a monthly fee just to be a client. You pay for work done. Some clients prefer a fixed monthly arrangement for priority response — we offer that too. We'll recommend what makes sense for your situation.

04

We show up.

On-site support across the KC metro. When something needs a physical presence — a network rebuild, a server swap, a new office setup — we come. We've been doing this in Kansas City for 24 years; we know how to get there.

Underground Datacenter

Your data lives 125 feet underground.

The underground Kansas City limestone datacenter we operate from has been in continuous service since 2001. This isn't a shared cage in a generic colo — the hardware is ours: our own firewalls, switches, and servers, managed end to end by the same people who answer your calls. The rock maintains a constant 68°F without mechanical cooling, and 125 feet of solid limestone above the servers is better disaster protection than any raised-floor data center can offer.

Power & Cooling

Redundant conditioned power with UPS backup. Limestone maintains 68°F naturally — no HVAC required.

Physical Security

Controlled access, continuous monitoring, and 125 feet of solid limestone above every server.

Network Infrastructure

Redundant internet feeds and enterprise-grade switching. Connectivity built for uptime, not price.

Disaster Protection

No flood zone. No tornado risk. Underground by design — not as a feature, but as a foundation.
